About the Book
This is a book of photographs of US-Mexico border towns, starting with Columbus, New Mexico and including Palomas, Nogales, Sasabe and Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. I titled it "Puppets of Violence" because the drug violence has had such a chilling effect but, in reality, the people I have met have not been deterred from their efforts to make these communities better. That is my message - that these people, whether those who live in these border towns or those who come to help, are among the most perservering and courageous people I've ever met.

Santa Fe, New Mexico
I am a retired lawyer and government official from Colorado, now living in Santa Fe, New Mexico and working as a free lance writer and photographer. My wife and I formerly lived in Spain and still travel there extensively to work on photography projects. We also work with several educational projects in Nicaragua and travel there frequently. My major mission, however, is documenting and assisting a variety of humanitarian projects on the Mexican border.
