About the Book
All that week of December 10, 1988 Phil Grout sensed that his father was nearing death. While Phil was documenting the destruction left by Hurricane Joan which devastated the Atlantic coast of Nicaragua, his father was into his final days in a nursing home thousands of miles away.
When the news arrived that his father had died two hours earlier, Phil found some relief in his grief through a network of new friends who had survived the hurricane.
And slowly favorite Christmas memories surface as Phil wanders the back alleys of Bluefields where a peace drifts in and rises above the brokenness.
