About the Book
Only available directly from the artist, Andreas Schmidt's new book is a mystery as all the pages have been laboriously glued together. Taking Piero Manzoni's art work "Merda d'artista" from 1961 as his inspiration, Schmidt's book acts like a can, preserving the contents until the pages are sliced open. As an hommage to Manzoni, the book is available in an edition of 90 only and the $ 37 (£28) price tag for the first 10 copies reflects the original cost of a Manzoni can in 1961. But hurry as in 1991 Sotheby's auctioned a Manzoni can for $67,000, and on May 23, 2007, a tin was sold at Sotheby's for over $160,000.
