About the Book
Throughout Seven months I sat, observed, heard stories, asked questions, and took pictures of the faces of Siloam Springs. I learned a lot about Siloam Springs, its history, and the people who live here. The town is even more interesting and has much more history than I had expected. Through talking to people, watching how people interact, and asking questions I was able to get a better idea of what I wanted to photograph and how to capture just the right moment.
My goal developed into depicting eight Siloam Springs business in depth rather than the forty I initially wanted to feature. The problem I ran into with the idea of forty businesses was that it would have been much more superficial photos that lacked deep concepts concerning the unique nature of the business that many people may not know. I also wanted to depict them in an over the top manner, but still in a manner that shows why they are important to the town. Since I went to John Brown University in Siloam Springs I wanted to cover a topic that local residents would enjoy seeing, but at the same time be interesting to anyone who might view the gallery or book and not know anyone in the photos or anything about the town.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my book and feel free to contact me with any questions.
