The wildlife includes the colourful King penguin, as well as the flamboyant rockhopper, gentoo, chinstrap and Adélie penguins, fur and elephant seals, blue-eyed cormorants, black-browed albatross, skuas, upland and kelp geese.

The historic whaling stations at Stromness and Grytviken are described.
