About the Book
Images of a 72 year old woman practicing her swimming exercise. She was cast with other women around the same age to be photographed as a figurative surrogate to the author's mother. The author originally asked each woman to pose with a re-enacted smile, from an image of her Mother at the author's Bat Mitzvah. Then the author met again with each woman to photograph and video tape them doing a ritual they loved to do each week.
Through this collaboration, Beth (the author) found that not only were most of these women just started a new career and a new chapter in their lives. They had not given up because of societies idea of age, these women were hustling and taking names.
