About the Book
The Literacy Through Photography class provided a twelve-week introduction to digital photography for a group of 3rd through 5th graders at the Riis Academy Ravenswood. The students planned the way in which their photographs and writing are presented in this book, including the cover design and thematic organization. Through this course, they learned photographic vocabulary, basic camera operation, computer editing, how to describe photographs with words, and were exposed to the history of photography through the work of well-known artists. It is with great pleasure that we present this book to the students and to the public.
