About the Book
Kids in Focus is the work of six disabled children living in Ankara, Turkey who participated in a photography project in the summer of 2011. In an effort to focus on the dignity of all humanity and celebrate their individual worth and value, these children were given digital cameras and taught to view their world with a critical eye. In doing so, the camera became the instrument for seeing without the camera (Dorothea Lange). This book has been published in an effort to raise money for the US based 501(c)3 who provides in home care to Turkish families striving to keep their disabled children in the home, rather than an institution. All proceeds go to this organization, Friends of Kardelen.
