About the Book
From mist-drenched sunrises to the color-bursting sunsets over the vast savannahs, every day provides a glimpse into Africa’s complex system of habitats and its wide-ranging denizens. There is something extraordinary about a close-up encounter with a lion or rhino in its native environment -- and the colorful birds of Africa, a surprise on my initial trip, remain a source of constant fascination.
The images in this book were taken over a two-week period, primarily at three locations: Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania, Old Donyo Wuas/Amboseli National Park in Kenya and Lewa Conservancy in Kenya. A visit to a nearby Maasai village, enhanced by information from our Maasai guides, also provided a glimpse into the rich Maasai culture.
