About the Book
This is the first of two volumes, updated March 18, 2012, featuring photographs of every operating or operational antique carousel in North America manufactured by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company (PTC). PTC produced roughly eighty-seven carousels between 1904 and 1930 of which only thirty-five remain. Most of the carousels have been lost to fires, natural disasters, or have been dismantled and the individual pieces sold to collectors. PTC carousels were numbered according to their order of manufacture. This first volume includes photographs of carousels from PTC #6 to PTC #47. This volume consists of 338 pages and contains 567 photographs of PTC carousel-related photographs. Updated March 18, 2012.
