About the Book
Kristy Gordon’s work is a frank and intimate reflection of her curiosity about other people, transformations and self-discovery. Her oeuvre ranges from portraits and self-portraits to experimental paintings that demonstrate a surprising maturity and skill for a relatively young artist.
Kristy’ Gordon’s paintings hang in more than 400 collections worldwide, including the Government of Ontario Art Collection.
Born in Nelson, B.C., Kristy has been a full-time, professional painter since 2004, exhibiting her work internationally and earning numerous awards including the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant, a Merit Award from Daniel Greene in the Salon International 2009, third prize at the Portrait Society of Canada International Portrait Competion, Best of Show in the National Art Premier, Illinois as well as being named Top Finalist in the Art Renewal Center’s International 2008/2009 ARC Salon. She has been widely featured in numerous magazines, art publications, radio and television shows.
Early in her career as a painter, Kristy honed her superbly intricate technique at art academies such as Toronto’s Academy of Realist Art and the Andreeva Portrait Academy in Santa Fe. She then attended the Ontario College of Art and Design. Even as an obviously accomplished painter, her appetite for learning continues and she is currently a Masters student at the New York Academy of Art.
