About the Book
Democracy makes all the difference between Taiwan and China. Even before students in Taipei occupied the parliament in 2014, there were demonstrations and civil movements. But Western media often ignore the world’s only ethnic Chinese democracy. Reading this richly illustrated book, you will be surprised to discover how vibrant democracy in Taiwan has become.
Reporting from Taiwan over the years, I have been lucky enough to witness and capture some key moments. Starting with the 2008 presidential campaign, these are my snapshots of democracy in action. The book is completely bilingual English & Chinese.
