Saving and preserving Whangarie's only Class 1 Historic building, the Kensington Park Round Roofed Grandstand has cemented Hockey Northland's place in the history of the Whangarei City and district forever.

While in London for the Olympics she became the "unofficial foreign correspondent for the Northern Advocate, a daily newspaper based in Whangarei, New Zealand.
