About the Book
The 1950’s and 60’s were some of the most remarkable times in Seismic Exploration. Young men from around the world braved desert and jungle, muskeg and ice to push back the boundaries of geology and geophysics.
This book documents that time; starting from humble roots in Southern Alberta and on to the deserts of Libya, the frozen tundra of the Yukon and the mud of Central Alberta.
Based on a cookie tin of slides and a photo album of images left by my father-in-law this book is a tribute to doodlebugs everywhere; back to an era when oil was truly “found in the minds of men” and not on a balance sheet in an air-conditioned office.
