About the Book
Diani Safdeye was born in Bogotá, Colombia in 1984 and lived there until 2000 when she moved to Miami, Florida. She started her university studies in Washington D.C., did a year abroad in Israel and graduated Magna Cum Laude in Fine Arts focused on mix media. She was presented with the “Outstanding Academic achievement in Art & Art History” award. She also earned a BA in Spanish Literature at Florida International University in 2008.
Diani currently resides in Miami where she has participated in various exhibitions showcasing work from all types of media. She is part of W-10, a group of Latin-American women that have formed an artistic community. Her current work alternates between different themes and elements; wire having a very predominant role in her artwork, for its malleability, its ability to adapt and to create a tangible line, yet also for its history of being a tool with the capacity to entrap or to secure. The use of color is also highlighted in her work, used to set moods and create environments for the viewer to experience.
