About the Book
Interior / Exterior is a 36 page full colour softcover book that features paintings, sculptures and other work by Fred Fowler completed in 2011 - 2012.
"This body of work primarily focuses on the idea of the face and the mask as a way to explore concepts relating to cultural identity, or the loss or lack thereof. These images function as a wormhole, universally recognisable symbols that can open the door to complex ideas and emotions. I am interested in a visual collision of cultures and traditions, and the dust that lies in its wake. A break down and re-assemblage of traditional western and non-western language systems to create my own hybrid visual vocabulary."
