About the Book
Social critique is the aim of this body of work. Some times it might be humorous and at others, cutting. The combined images offer comment or conversation to the others in the piece. Most often, images are as found. However, every once in a while, I insert images on top of what exists in the world. These are not documentary photographs, although they do document the bits and pieces I find out there.
When I travel, I search for signs of the culture reflected in its graffiti displayed on the walls. I also look at advertisements, shop windows, street displays to see how the popular culture shows itself to the traveling public.

About the Creator
Barbara Houghton
Alexandria, Kentucky, USA
I am a working artist who taught photography, web design for artists and artist book classes full time at Northern Kentucky University and Metro State University for 41 years. I began making blurb books the first day I got a notice that blurb existed. Since then I have made quite a few for myself, gotten friends and family to make books, and used blurb when I taught my courses in artist bookmaking and photography and whenever I taught study abroad classes. Blurb democratized bookmaking for the rest of us and for that I am grateful. Thank you Eileen.
