Hands On India 2009

Hands On India is a not-for-profit organisation that was born out of the dream to help children reach a potential beyond their societal limitations through education, health care and empowering the community.
The people who we help are called 'The Untouchables'; the lowest on the casting system in India. They receive no government help, education, financial or medical aid and live in dire poverty. Many of them work on the tea plantations and survive by earning a pittance from breaking river stones and selling the rubble to building contractors. These jobs expose the body to extreme amounts of physical stress that can lead to many musculoskeletal conditions that chiropractic care can help with.
Over the last decade Hands On India has been able to fund 7 schools (700 children) to provide quality education for children who were previously amongst 1 in 4 children working in child labour. Funding of 2000 women in Women’s Empowerment Groups, to help women gain economic independence to allow their children to attend school, improve family health and have support in their community. And working to enhance the health and well-being of local communities in Siliguri, India.
