May 27 - June 7, 2008, 6,000 participants, including over 4,000 elementary school students; two weeks of chalk drawing, 90,000 square feet (300' x 300'), the story of a salamander and ginkgo leaf, lots of chalk, a satellite photograph, and a special dog. Their current project is a Global Illustrated Story.

About the Creator
MARK WAGNER – BIO Mark Wagner is a traditional and digital artist, teacher, and father. Mark’s mission is to “Enchant the World Through Art.” Mark has been as a professional artist for over 25 years. He works in the film industry as a concept artist, as well as in illustration, graphic design, fine art, and music video. Recent clients: Smithsonian Institution, Pixar, Genentech, SpaceX. Mark received a Master's Degree from JFK University in "Arts and Consciousness" and a BFA in Art & Design from Pratt Institute. He has taught art and creativity classes in graduate school, prison, and created core curriculum for computer art schools. Mark is Founder of the nonprofit DRAWING ON EARTH. In 2008, children from the Alameda CA and the community collaboratively set a Guinness World Record for the largest chalk drawing. Their mission is to inspire art and creativity in youth and communities around the world. Current project is a Global Illustrated Story. www.drawingonearth.org
