About the Book
This is a catalogue of digital art that explores art, science, and their relation to both the artificial and natural environments. The works, largely abstract, present wild landscapes and improbable structures floating in space. They also delimit space itself, with a clear representation of symmetry, boundary, periodicity, and seeming non-temporality, where geometrical objects occupy an apparently boundless void.
These works were created using the ‘Manifold’ CAD plugin, a parametric design and structural analysis tool created by the author. While it may be exploited for the sole purpose of pure artistic design, the software has been specially conceived to facilitate seamless transitions between aesthetic and load-bearing elements on arbitrary membranes, with a special emphasis on compressive structures such as funicular vaulting.
