About the Book
Historic, nostalgic, amusing, sometimes poignant. The black and white photographs in this book, made in classic street photography style, look back on two tumultuous decades in New York City. In a recent Gallery & Studio Magazine review of an exhibit at the New Century Artists Gallery, NYC, in which some of these pictures were included, critic Byron Coleman wrote… ”George Roos’s pictures fairly teem with humanity” and …”sharply observed images of The Feast of St. Anthony in Little Italy, suggest figures in a satirical etching by Goya or a caricature by Daumier” This is a book for those who love New York or those who love this style of photography. Those who love both will find it doubly appealing.
