About the Book
Hands-on activities provide an important and welcome distraction for children at
Great Ormond Street Hospital. They also help children develop a range of skills
and improve their confidence. Each year we hold a creative residence project with
an invited artist who works on a longer term project in a selected department.
In 2012, we invited artist Isobel Manning to work with children and young people
in Dinosaur ward where they created the ‘The GO Create! Arts and Craft book
for children and families’. Isobel developed ten individual bright and colourful
activities for children and young people, which were specifically tailored to suit a
wide range of ages and abilities. Isobel guided the children through each of the
activities which included Funny Face Bags, Robots, Haunted Castle, Superhero
Cape, Monster Feet and Drawing Book.
