About the Book
Outer Mongolia is surrounded by China on the east and south, by Kazakhstan on the west, and Russia on the north. It is 1,500 miles by 800 miles and slightly smaller than Alaska. The country is populated by 3 million people 95% of whom are Mongols, 4% Kazakhs, and 1% other. It is the second largest landlocked country with a largely steppe terrain, mountains in the north and the Gobi Desert in the south. The book contains 68 pages with over 100 color photographs of Buddhist Temples, the capital city of Ulaanbaatar, scenes of the Mongolian countryside, nomadic families, the 131-foot statue of Genghis Khan (the largest equestrian statue in the world), three national parks, and the Gobi Desert.
