About the Book
Long Island was not just the birthplace and frequently the home of Walt Whitman, but also the source of inspiration for many of his greatest works, including Leaves of Grass. A Year on Walt Whitman's Long Island documents through the photography of Todd Atteberry some of the locations he frequented, as well as others that he would have been familiar with. The text chosen to accompany the illustrations has been chosen not just from Whitman's published poems and prose, but also his letters and diaries. A portion of all profits will go to the Nature Conservancy and the Walt Whitman Birthplace Association. Go to http://www.waltwhitmanslongisland.com to see more excerpts or order prints from the book.
