About the Book
"Riverside Story 2" was photographed in 2011. This is a sequel book of "Riverside Story" which was photographed in 2001.
In 2011, Williamsburg Brooklyn NY.
It’s been ten years since 9.11, 2001, the day watching crushing Twin Towers from the roof top of my apartment in the blue sky.
Also means I’m living in Williamsburg for a decade already.
Just amazing to see how this neighborhood has changed so rapidly, with so many new cafes, restaurants, bars, shops, or even bowling alleys, movie theaters and hotels.
After New York City changed zoning low of this area, so many new condominiums are popping up everywhere, and really a lot of people are moving in.
The energy is enormous.
The abandoned lot along the East River, where skaters used to built hand made skate park, became “East River State Park”, next to Brooklyn Flea market, a ferry terminal and ugly high rise condos.
Many local artists and musicians are gradually chased out, and this area is getting cleaner and expensive.
KCDC, the legendary skate shop in Williamsburg, also had to move out from huge loft store after 10 years of their hard core skate history, and looking for a new space.
I see more joggers, bikers and baby strollers..., but still some skaters come back to grind under BQE or new & official McCarren Skate Park.
Only the big sky and orange sunset over the East River never changed.
