What is the Afroverse?

It is either a book of verse about Africa or it is that amazing, mystical quality of the entire African continent that explodes way beyond its geographic borders. Life begun in Africa. The continent contains virtually everything that our world has to offer, from misery and suffering through disease and drought to enchantingly beautiful creatures, vegetation and, by and large, wonderful people. The Afroverse could, therefore, be Africa's own astral universe that lives in the heads and, above all, the hearts of everyone who has been there. That may be a positive experience, a negative one, or a mixture of feelings, hopes, desires and dreams. Such is Africa.

This collection of poems and short stories was most certainly inspired by the mystical Afroverse although not every work in this book is about Africa. The poem "Donnersburgerbruecke" is about life around the railway bridge just outside the city of Munich, Germany yet it describes the same sunset as seen in Yaounde in the Cameroon, which makes Munich part of the Afroverse as far as the author is concerned.
