About the Book
When Luanne Foster was nine years old, her parents secured a permit from the U. S. Forest Service for a half-acre cabin site at Silver Creek to build a cabin, just a mile from the entrance to Squaw Valley. During the next two years of weekend and vacation-time building, Luanne mostly stayed out of the way and played in the dirt. “Good clean dirt”, her mom always said.
This is partially a love story, Luanne’s love of the outdoors, her love of skiing, her love of family and friends and her love of the Silver Creek cabin. This is also a close look into the development of her personality with artistic talent, appreciation of history and tradition, leadership abilities and straightforward commentary.
