About the Book
In 1906, Carmelo Fugazzotto left a small village in Sicily, traveled to Naples, and boarded a ship bound for a new country and a new life. After landing at Ellis Island, he journeyed to the coal mining country of western Pennsylvania. There, in a small mining town, he met his wife-to-be at the boarding house owned by her mother. With his marriage to Donna, he settled in as the mining company barber in Allison, PA and began to raise a family of his own. In 1935, he brought his family to Chicago where he again established a neighborhood barbershop and watched as his family married, settled in their homes and eventually had children. His legacy lives on through four generations of Fugazzottos born and living in the United States.
