About the Book
For the past few years I have befriended and photographed people living off-the-grid along the waterways of San Francisco's Islais Creek, Yosemite Slough, and on the San Joaquin River in the outer stretches of the Bay Area. Fishing, growing food, making wine, building shelters, and salvaging scrap metal, the people in these photographs are sustained in large part through self-reliant practices on the edge of urban society.
