About the Book
Provence lies in the south-eastern corner of France. It was the first Roman province outside Italy and derives its name from this fact. The Parc Régional du Luberon stretches for about 50 kilometres east of Avignon, between Mont Ventoux to the north and Aix-en-Provence and Marseille to the south. The Luberon countryside is glorious with lush orchards, melon fields and vineyards - contrasting with the stark, grey, rocky spine of the mountain range. We visited Provence during the spring of 2014 (13-20 April) and made our base in picturesque Oppède-le-Vieux, situated in the foothills of Le Petit Luberon. From there we made day trips on foot or by car to many fascinating villages in the region. This book is a visual diary of our holiday.
