About the Book
Fifth Avenue is best known for its stores, museums, churches, iconic buildings, and parades. Many prominent street photographers shot on Fifth Avenue, particularly in the midtown segment of it.
The photographs in this book were taken on the Avenue itself or no more then a half a block east or west. Fifth Avenue extends from Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village to 142nd Street in Harlem. The relatively small area between 42nd Street and 60th Street in midtown Manhattan was the source for most of the photographs in this book. People are the subject matter. Some are aware of the camera, but most are in their own personal bubble. The iconic urban landscape is not of major interest here. The vast majority of pictures represent an eight-month period from October 2013 through June 2014.
