About the Book
This is the story of the only daughter of a Greek migrant from the island of Cerigo, also known as Kythera. Rene was born on Bastille Day, the 14th July 1919 and delivered by a mid-wife at the residence behind her parent’s mixed business at Given Terrace, Paddington.
Maudie... Put the Record On is a true story about the early part of Rene's life growing up in the Brisbane suburb of Red Hill between the years 1923 and 1938. It tells about the hardships her family experienced and how they coped especially with their mother’s illness during The Great Depression.
