About the Book
Pirkle was a First Class company. During the dates of this book being an owner-operator was a tough way to make a living, but the people who did it, did so because they wanted to, and loved it. Pirkle was a company run by owner-operators and they wanted their lease operators to be successful, and they were. Those days of trucking are of course gone forever. For us old-timers we look at the trucking industry today and just shake our head in dismay. But fortunately for us, we all have our vivid memories of times past. If you're an old trucker I know you will enjoy this book and consider it a good investment. If you're a young person or someone interested in the history of trucking, I hope this book gives you an insight to trucking from a bygone era.

My husband, Dave drove truck in the U.S. for 40 years with over 3-million safe miles. He started taking photos of trucks as a young boy in the 1950s, inspired by his mother who took photos of his dad's trucks beginning in the late 1940s. He passed away in 2019. His wife survives.
