About the Book
The Pictures in this book were taken in Morocco between October 17, 2014 and October 26, 2014. They were taken in, around, or on the route to Rabat, Fez, Erfoud, Ouarzazate, Marrakech, Essaouira, and Casablanca. This route took me through the middle Atlas and High Atlas Mountain ranges. It also took me through lush farm land, ski resorts, and one of the most arid regions on earth, the Sahara Desert.
Morocco is a country of many natural wonders. It has beautiful dunes, mountains, and canyons. It is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. It has wild monkeys and even goats who stand in trees.
Morocco has beautiful mosques and buildings with interior courtyards that are breathtaking in their peaceful beauty. It also has souks that are busy, dark, scary, and full of odors (both pleasant and unpleasant).
The people of Morocco are almost all Berber, Arab, or a combination of the Berber and Arab. Many women wear beautiful colored and pattered cloaks. In cities most men and women dress in western clothing, although women often ware a head scarf.
Moroccans take pride in being tolerant of religious beliefs and seem to enjoy that people are free to choose the Mosque, the Church, the Synagogue, or the Bar of their choice. The local Moroccan wines and beers are, indeed, very drinkable and inexpensive.
