About the Book
A largely visual description of life in the mining valleys of South Wales between the 1850's and the closure of the pits in the 1980's. Special emphasis is given to the children who lost their lives in mining disasters and those that died in the slag slide in Aberfan. Deaths in a selection of major disasters have been analyzed in detail with particular attention given to the Senghenydd explosion and its recent centenary memorial.
