About the Book
Hueske - Forster Family Recipe Cookbook from Richardton, North Dakota.
When our relatives came from Germany and Russia, they settled in western North Dakota with the promise of new life. Homesteading the prairie was a challenge at every turn. The men worked hard in the fields. The women worked hard in the home. Mealtime brought everyone together.
Over the years, as siblings married and moved to other parts of the country, whenever we would get together for reunions, we had entertaining confusion over terms “lunch” versus “dinner” versus “supper.” One day, Gramma Rose ended all the confusion with the famous phrase, “around here dinner is at noon, supper is at six and lunch is at three. And, we stick to those times!”
This book is a family history told through favorite recipes of the Forster and Hueske families who homesteaded around Richardton, North Dakota. It is a collection of homespun recipes passed from one generation to the next and illustrated with foodcentric family photos.

I put books together because it is the best way for me to remember my family history. Maybe someone else will like them too.
