About the Book
Old family records, stories and pictures are used as resources to tell the history of the William McLellan and Martha Little families. It includes information on their ancestor's lives in Scotland; their immigration to Upper Canada; and their homesteading in Glengarry, Lanark, and Renfrew County in the mid-1800s. Stories of opening up of Ontario (farming, lumber and mining) and early settlement of the west are told from the perspective of Willie and Martha's siblings and extended family. The primary focus in the later part of the book is on the household of William McLellan -- son of John and Isabella (Porter) McLellan and Martha Little -- daughter of Thomas Little and Margaret Carr Elliott and their family, and concludes in the late 1900s.
This book is my attempt to pull the family stories together. I am making it available in the hopes that it will help our extended family reconnect and give others access to the information we have.
