About the Creator
Patricia Lay-Dorsey brings a Masters in Social Work and over three decades as a visual artist to her work as a photographer. She focuses on seeing herself and others from an insider’s point of view. Lay-Dorsey's photo essays were featured in Newsweek Japan, on BBC News, Huffington Post, ABC News, CBS News, NY Times Lens blog, Slate Magazine’s Behold blog, among others. Solo exhibits were held at 2014 Lianzchou International Foto Festival in China, Griffin Museum of Photography (MA), Fovea Exhibitions (NY), Central Michigan University and in Detroit at Swords Into Plowshares Art Gallery and The Heidelberg Project’s Exposure Gallery. Her self portrait book, Falling Into Place, was published in 2013 by Ffotogallery in Cardiff, Wales. The project won 3rd prize in 2010 FotoVisura Grant for Outstanding Personal Photography Project and a 1st prize in Prague's 2013 Photo Annual Awards. Her photos appear in A Detroit Anthology, edited by Anna Clark, and Looking at Images by Brooks Jenssen.
