About the Book
This book of timelines serves as a companion to the book, Timelines, by Sally Ritchie, 2014. Like Timelines, it also covers various fields of study, including history, wars, political leaders, the British monarchy, U.S. presidents, religious founders and movements, literature, art, music, mathematics, science and philosophy. This book is organized by time period rather than by field of study so that comparisons between fields are simplified.
The time periods covered are pre-history (15000 BC to 3000 BC), ancient history (3500 BC to 400 AD), the middle ages (400 AD to 1500 AD) including the Renaissance, early modern history (1500 AD to approximately 1750 AD), modern and post-modern history (approximately 1750 AD to present, 2014 AD). The British monarchy has been divided into multiple timelines according to the various houses, and all U.S. presidents are shown on one timeline. Where necessary, for readability, some time periods are divided into sections and shown on multiple pages.
The second edition contains expanded Literature, Art, Math and Science sections and the Modern History section has been revised and simplified for the sake of comparison. In addition, an index for the book is now available and can be purchased separately.
