About the Book
At the atelier of Gilbert Decouvreur, students between the ages of 16 and 18 discover how they can create a world of forms with their own hands. Gilbert Decouvreur doesn’t live in the illusion of the need to invent a new world. On the contrary, the world of forms exist already in nature and in its extention the human settlement. These historical foundations needs to be conveyed to the students. Exercises are made in white cardboard based on a theme deriving from a natural or a cultural object. In these constructions is the spatial organisation of paramount importance. Architecture remains herein the main goal. From 1977 onwards, the models are photographed as a witness of the students creativity. These books are showing the results of the atelier giving a counterbalance for weakened vision and thus laying out the path of formal perception and invention in today’s artistic education.
