About the Book
The 7th Graders at St. Mary's Visitation in Elm Grove, Wisconsin, created a book to celebrate the 60th anniversary of their city for their Writing class. As a class, the students brainstormed a list of some of their favorite and some of the most important places in Elm Grove. Each student then picked one of the topics, emailed interview questions to an employee at each place, and wrote a nonfiction piece for their page in the book. Although this book started out as just an assignment for a class, it has grown to symbolize the outpouring of love and pride that the students, and the members of the Elm Grove community, have for each other. This book - and this city - is something that both groups can be proud of.
