Morocco: A Cultural & Photographic Sojourn
A Cultural and Photographic Sojourn by Abercrombie & Kent. March 19 - April 1, 2009.
A photo tour of the modern and medieval cities of Morocco, through ancient medinas, kasbahs, and souks, across the Atlas Mountains for taste of the bedouin lifestyle, riding a camel, sleeping in tents in the Sahara desert. Then traveling along ancient slave caravan routes through oases, past Berber kasbahs, along the lovely Moroccan cost, through 16th century Portuguese fortresses, along the way dining in palaces and private riads and ksours. Cities toured: Casablanca, Rabat, Meknes, Volubilis, Fez, Errachidia, Merzouga, Tineghire, Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Essaouira, and Marrakech.
This special Invitational Marco Polo tour was attended by the following "Adventurers":
Dr. Carl Getto & Sheila Getto, Ronald (Ron) Guttmann, Susan Silver, Anne Hancock, Catherine Ivy,
Dr. Ludmila Kohut, David & Mary Prothero, William (Bill) & Gail Robinson, Jeneane Shield, Carolyn Wilkinson, and Thomas (Tom) & Virginia Young.
Cultural Guides, who shared their love of Morocco, its history & culture, were Mohamed Zahidi and Ahmed El Missouab. The international photographer, and flag carrying member of the Explorers Club and the Adventurers Club of Chicago, Roger "Mzungu" Moore, served as our photography guide and personal photographic tutor.
