About the Book
In 2003 Jo Bowen and Matthew Bernstein bought Helwell Barton in Devon and began a major restoration program of this old dairy farmhouse and surrounds. This is a picturial record of the outcome, a place where people, flora and fauna and the landscape come together in celebration of a wonderful place to be.

About the Creator
Jo Talbot Bowen
Exeter, Devon, United Kingdom
I trained as a doctor and worked for many years in hospital medicine in London before moving to Devon, UK. Since then I have founded the Exeter Stress Clinic and also developed my passion for Fine Art, garden design and philosophy. The restoration of Helwell Barton has been an exciting and intensive project with my husband, the winemaker, Matthew Bernstein. I am now involved in a restoration of my current house 'Simcoe House' in Budleigh Salterton, Devon, the weekend house of the famous General John Graves Simcoe, founder of modern day Toronto,Canada. The rivers and sea around East Devon are integral to my work as an artist and writer.
