About the Book
Members of two Scottish families were among the free settlers who arrived in Victoria in the 1850s and early 1860s. The seven Langs, descendants of tenant farmers, were born in the Parish of Shotts, Lanarkshire, where graves to their ancestors are found. The three Wilson brothers were descendants of Scottish millers and a Royal Navy Captain. The families were joined together when Margaret Lang, the eldest child of Archibald and Elizabeth Lang, married Andrew Thomson Wilson, son of John Wilson and Jean Thomson in 1849. This book tells the story of the Scottish ancestry of these families and their arrival in Victoria, followed by the generations who dispersed to NSW, Queensland and Western Australia.
