About the Book
The December rains mark the start of the cutting season in northern Tanzania - a four-week period when girls as young as nine are forced by their families to undergo female genital mutilation, so that they can become married. This year however there are rumours in the Mara foothills of a safe house that will provide sanctuary to those brave enough to flee their families. This photo/graphic novel tells the very real stories of three such girls.
