About the Book
FROM THE FOREWORD:
"Before you are born, you're dead"
My daughter must have been around seven years old, since her naive - but precise words chiselled into me.
I have thought a lot about what she said.
Before the cells meet, there is nothing.
Then you live life.
Puts its imprint into the world.
And when you die, again - there is nothing.
But you have left your marks in other people and thus helped to shape the world.
So it was a conscious choice that I began photographing on the street.
I would learn to photograph people.
I have always seen them through life.
Nothing established.
Nothing constructed.
Only clean situations, where people are present.
Deep in the process, it dawned on me that I very often photograph people when they are in some way alone.
I discovered that my motives, were deeply connected with myself.
And it dawned on me that I am experiencing that man is basically lonely.
We communicate, feel, interact and love together.
But basicly, we only know ourselves.
Therefore, the individual human beeing is sole.
Through my photographs, I discovered my own loneliness
It is from these insights, the book is created.
