About the Book
The ultimate course in the Foothill College Photography curriculum is Photographic Portfolio and Professional Practices., a two-quarter class spanning Winter and Spring quarters. Under the guidance of Professor Kate Jordahl, the students in this class learn not only to assemble and polish a collection of images, but also much about the realities of the photography business.
This book celebrates the work of the twenty-five students in 2009 Portfolio and Professional Practices class. Each student is represented by a pair of images and biographical and artistic statements. The book presents an inspiringly diverse set of images, realizations of a similarly diverse set of goals.
The fifty images in this book are just a sample of the class's work: each student created a ten to twenty image collection. The complete portfolios were show at the PhotoCentral Gallery in Hayward, California, in the summer of 2009.
