About the Book
Hurricane Felix made landfall on the Atlantic coast of Nicaragua as a category 5 hurricane on September 4, 2007. Most of the communities affected were the indigenous Miskito ethnic group. The hurricane's winds and rains delivered a fatal blow to their homes and crops. Rivers overflowed and thousands of families suffered significant losses.
A few connected with the Nehemiah Center in Nicaragua came together and the idea of biking across Nicaragua to raise awareness and funds came to life. The goal was to raise $100,000 to buy seed to help farmers replant crops that were lost. The Christian Reformed World Relief Committee (CRWRC) and their local partner Acción Medica Christiana (AMC) have been working on this project since the hurricane. Through a special arrangement with the Canadian Food Grains Bank (CFGB) every dollar raised was matched 4:1 by the Canadian government.
A group of thirty Canadians, Nicaraguans and missionaries living in Nicaragua cycled from the the Atlantic to Pacific coast of Nicaragua to raise awareness for the disaster response. Each rider secured sponsers.
This book captures some of the views along the way as well as snapshots of those who put so much effort into this successful event.

For the past number of years I have been dabbling in photography as a personal outlet for my artistic side. When my husband and I moved to Nicaragua I realized that I have the opportunity to share life through photography with those home in North America. I hope you enjoy my photobooks, they are created with intent.
