About the Book
About this book.
I began drawing as a child (like all children do) in an environment conducive to creation, in an unusual household filled with rare collections, with parents who always supported me and encouraged, with a brother who liked baseball and got to play in the ninth Oscar for "The Camel", and another older brother who was already famous as a cartoonist, and internationally, in a town that was often characterized by the openness and humorous nature of its people ... ... ... I came from San Antonio De Los Baños.
My first drawing teacher was Quidiello Ruben Suarez, a character from Macondo had he not been born in the Ariguanabo, he taught us to observe with the mind and draw from the heart, to be bohemian and extravagant, to be rebellious and irreverent, to be sensitive urban landscapes and most importantly he taught us that being an artist is a lifelong responsibility.
I graduated from two art schools, which opened three major avenues for me, painting, caricature, and set design, three paths I've tried to tread simultaneously, hoping that they never end but rather become evermore long and infinite.
In April 2007 Angel Boligán and his family paid me a pleasant visit at my home, no one can imagine how fun vacations are with two humorists on board. on several occasions we had gotten together in Mexico after many years apart, it was a leap in time from a childhood full of dreams and expectations, to an age where professional achievements are established.
It was in those days in April and led by Boligán, that I started to participate internationally in cartoon competitions. At the beginning everything was like a game, we were surprised every day with each other’s drawings, we would even send the cartoons to each other by email saying: "I am sending you the winner".... and many times it would become true.
I compiled in this book some of the cartoons that I made from April 2007 to May 2009, with various works that have been published in newspapers and used on many websites in many countries. I simply catalogued these cartoons for your consideration.
