About the Book
James S. Lonie has led a compelling life on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. His memoir chronicles his life from humble beginnings in Scotland, where he apprenticed as an instrument maker, to his war service with the Royal Navy in Europe and the Far East. When his number came up to join the war effort once again in Korea, he chose instead to take a job across a different ocean and emigrated to Canada. His wife, Peggy, and daughter, Sandra, soon joined him in Canada. A few years later, James and Peggy welcomed their son, Andrew, and the family built a life together in Ottawa. James had a diverse career with prominent roles in the federal public service, started his own consulting company, and eventually retired to a life of Floridian holidays and Caribbean cruises. This is the story of an adventurous life well lived.
